Historical and Technical Notes: Built directly under the supervision of Dekim Barton's son Trowa, the Gundam Heavyarms was meant to be a heavy assault machine. Since its intended pilot was a member of a prestigious family, money was no object; as a result, Heavyarms features a number of weapons that were used up quickly and required frequent restocking. The main weapon was a beam Gatling gun, which was affixed to a shield that mounted over the Gundam's left arm. Heavyarms also mounted a variety of Gatling guns and missile launchers all over its body. Its only melee weapon was an army knife mounted on a hinge on the right arm, which would flip around when used. The engineers working on the Gundam ended up rebelling against the genocidal Operation Meteor, cumulating in the murder of Trowa. To keep Dekim from learning the truth, a young engineer with no name offered to take the Gundam and the dead man's name and carry out a different form of Operation Meteor. The newly-dubbed Trowa would use his Gundam on Earth, loaning it out to fellow pilot Heero Yuy for his duel with Zechs Marquise. When the pilots headed to space, Trowa abandoned Heavyarms because of its poor space combat abilities.
When the Gundam pilots went to space, their ground combat Gundams were of little use. To that end, Gundam supporter Howard worked his mechanical magic to upgrade Heavyarms into a more worthy form after Alliance medic Sally Po brought the gundam to him. The slightly upgraded Heavyarms Kai was most notable for the assortment of boosted verniers placed all over its body that let it fight in space as well as on Earth. The only real change to Heavyarms' weaponry was the addition to a second barrel to the beam Gatling gun. After recovering his lost memories through the use of the ZERO System, Trowa would use his new Gundam through the end of the conflict.
