The Assassins' Lament (How It All Began)
The four assassins were kidnapped around the age of 3 by an organization known as Zeon. They were trained and experimented on and by the time each reached 10 years old they were ready to begin their ‘work’.
They were sent around the world to kill off high-ranking officials who were out to gain peace. They were never seen, never found. Not that it mattered, however, as who would ever suspect four ‘children’ to cause such devastation.
But when they were 12 they ‘attended’ a conference where a man named Heero Yuy, the real Heero Yuy, was speaking about the peace he held so dear. He was their target and they did kill him, but not before hearing his words. Those words sunk deep and before they knew it, three of the four assassins were trying to escape.
Unfortunately for them, they didn’t make it. They were caught and brought back to Zeon and all four were given a locket. The locket contained a picture of the one they’d loose should they betray Zeon again. The pictures were of Triten’s older sister, Catherine Bloom, Dillia’s younger brother, Quatre winner, Hillarin’s older sister, Lucracia Noin and Midii’s older cousin, ‘Lady’ Une.
The three eventually got away again, however, after deciding that the lives of their loved ones weren’t as important as the lives of all the people they were being sent to kill. Midii, however, never even attempted to escape, still slightly believing in the ideals of Zeon as well as not wanting her cousin to be harmed. But Zeon never did kill their siblings. The assassins didn’t know why but they suspected it was because Zeon wasn’t finished with them.
In the end, of course, they were right. After Colony 199 An assassination attempt on Relena’s life became the beginning of yet another war. And the three assassins had to make a choice; loose their loved ones whom they’d finally found and gotten to know, or work for Zeon once more and continue their work as the Shadow-Assassins.
